Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has called on Ghanaians to pray for the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod). He warned that the institution is facing opposition from a “very powerful movement.” According to him, this movement consists of influential and well-established individuals who understand the gold trade and are resisting efforts to regulate the sector and enforce existing laws.
During a church service on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Archbishop Duncan-Williams expressed his concerns, urging the congregation to intercede for the country. He noted that certain individuals who previously acquired gold through illegal means are now trying to purchase gold through GoldBod. “It is very clear to me that GoldBod is dealing with a very powerful movement,” he stated.
He also highlighted that Ghana’s inability to effectively enforce its laws, particularly in the fight against illegal mining, could have serious long-term consequences for the country. Archbishop Duncan-Williams raised alarms about the destruction of water bodies and farmlands, warning that this situation endangers the future of Ghana’s children and grandchildren.
“In the name of politics, we are destroying the future of our children and our grandchildren,” he cautioned. He therefore urged the church to dedicate time to pray and intercede for the nation, stressing the need to protect Ghana’s natural resources from further destruction.
