Mr Samuel Quansah Quarcoo, a philanthropist based in the United States and friends has donated items worth thousands of dollars to Emmaus Methodist School Complex at Awoshie last stop in Accra, some of the items were; shoes, school bags, textbooks, notebooks, PA system, pens, pencils, toothbrush and paste, sanitary pads, liquid soaps, sanitisers and many more.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Accra, Mr Quarcoo said the donation was his contribution to support the pupils and also to encourage them to study well. Mr Quarcoo said the initiative was borne out of his genuine love for charity and eagerness to alleviate the plights of the less privileged.

He added that he wanted to inculcate into the children the act of kindness so that whenever they are blessed with enough, they could also emulate the act of giving to support the underprivileged. The philanthropist who has been embarking on such charity works for some years now said he found fulfilment in giving back to society to ameliorate the plight of the vulnerable and the underprivileged.

“I love to give back to society, especially to the needy because that is what gives me gratification,” he said.

Mr Quarcoo expressed profound gratitude to his well-wishers in the US who had been supporting his philanthropic work.

Speaking on the behalf of Diocesan Bishop, Very Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden, Synod Secretary of the Northern Accra said, they are very grateful to Mr Quarcoo for his kind gestures and encouraged all those present to emulate him. He also encouraged the teaching staff and the management of the school to make sure the items donated are put into good use. He concludes his speech by encouraging everyone to be an instrument of change wherever they find themselves.

Some of the beneficiary students acknowledged the worth of the items donated to them. Some dignitaries present at the occasion are; Very Rev. Joseph E. Baidoo, Superintendent Minister of Awoshie Circuit and Local Manager of Emmaus Methodist School, Madam Sandra Odei Acheampong, Deputy Director of Education in charge of Supervision (Ga Central Municipal Assembly).

Mrs Christiana Popeson, Regional Manager, Methodist Education Unit, Madam Abigail Gwira, Circuit Steward, Awoshie Circuit. Rhoda Panford, Society Steward, Emmaus Methodist Church and Madam Joana Oppong, member of the Emmaus School Board. They thanked him for his generosity and were hopeful that he would continue to include them in subsequent donations.
