The Ghana Armed Forces has launched its largest recruitment drive in years, aiming to enlist 12,000 new personnel over the next three years, according to the Ministry of Defence. Deputy Defence Minister Brogya Genfi announced the initiative, emphasising that the recruitment process will be fair, transparent, and accessible to all Ghanaians.
“In line with President and Commander-in-Chief John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to affordability and fairness, we have reduced the cost of recruitment forms by more than 40 percent compared to the previous exercise,” he stated. The ministry has also decentralised the process by establishing recruitment centers in every region, ensuring that all qualified applicants have an equal opportunity to join the Armed Forces.
Mr. Genfi warned the public against fraudulent schemes, making it clear that entry into the Armed Forces is not for sale. “Any individual or group involved in fraudulent recruitment activities will be dealt with harshly,” he cautioned.
He further noted that the process will not take place on social media, but only through official government and military channels. Details of qualifications, procedures and application centres will be published in newspapers, on radio and television, and on the Defence Ministry and Armed Forces websites in the coming days.
“All qualified applicants must be medically fit and prepared for the demands of military life. We are building a force that reflects the strength, discipline and unity of Ghana,” the Deputy Minister added.
