Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned the newly elected Greater Accra regional executives that significant work lies ahead as the party gears up for the 2028 general elections. During a courtesy visit from the new regional executives, led by Regional Chairman Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, along with constituency chairpersons, Dr. Bawumia emphasised that the regional elections were merely one stage in the party’s broader reorganisation.
“The goal for all of us is to win the 2028 election. This is just a stepping stone toward achieving that,” he stated. Dr. Bawumia mentioned that the NPP has successfully completed its polling station, electoral area, constituency, and regional elections as part of this reorganisation effort. He noted that the process would culminate in the party’s national elections scheduled for October 3.
After these elections, he believes the NPP will have a stronger structure in place to pursue victory in 2028. “By the end of this, the party will be well-positioned to drive us toward victory in 2028. There is a lot of work ahead of us,” he concluded. Dr Bawumia also congratulated the newly elected executives and expressed confidence in Dr Okoe Boye’s leadership, describing him as a humble and unifying person.
He said he expected the new Greater Accra Regional Chairman to help the NPP win more parliamentary seats in the region in 2028. “He’s a good man. He’s unified and he’s very humble if you know him. And I believe that he’s going to really bring us a lot of seats in Greater Accra,” Dr Bawumia said.
