Presidential staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has ignited public debate after revealing that sex toys are increasingly being used by married women to sustain their relationships, particularly when spouses spend long periods away from home. Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, she explained that many women confide in her about marital challenges and how such alternatives help bridge intimacy gaps.
“The number of people who come to me to talk about this issue of sex toys is significant,” she noted, adding that most of them are married women coping with husbands who travel frequently for work. According to Jantuah, some women believe these products help them remain faithful. “Those whose husbands travel for work, and because they don’t want to be promiscuous, turn to such options,” she said.
Nana Yaa Jantuah revealed that her first encounter with the subject of sex toys came through a conversation with a woman who had to explain what they were, after she admitted she was unfamiliar with them. “I have never seen one before or even know how it looks,” she confessed.
She recounted that after this initial explanation, she became more aware of the growing public discourse around intimacy tools and their role in relationships. “The first person who spoke to me described it and even mentioned that it is referenced in law. Since then, I have heard many conversations about it,” she added.
Jantuah further emphasised the importance of open dialogue on sex and intimacy, arguing that such discussions strengthen relationships and prevent misinformation, especially among young people. “If we say sex toys are saving marriages, then we must also demystify sex itself. Because if we don’t talk to our children about it at home, they will learn about it on the streets,” she said.
Her remarks have since stirred public debate on the role of sex education and intimacy tools in sustaining modern marriages.
