Hundreds of residents from Dome-Kwabenya, Comet, Berekuso, Agyementi, and Kitase gathered for a peaceful demonstration to demand the immediate rehabilitation and completion of the Dome-Kwabenya–Berekuso–Kitase Road. Organized by the Dome-Kwabenya–Kitase Road Stakeholders Committee, the demonstration aims to highlight the deteriorating condition of the road and the challenges it poses for residents, commuters, transport operators, and businesses in the area.

Speaking to Citi News on Monday, August 17, demonstrators expressed their frustration, stating that they had exhausted all available avenues for engaging with the authorities and felt compelled to take to the streets to advocate for action.

“This road is a significant problem for us. It severely disrupts our movement,” one demonstrator noted. “We are pleading with the government to fix our roads. They have been in disrepair for 20 years, and we urgently need action.”

Residents also voiced concerns about the health implications of the poor road conditions, particularly the dust generated by passing vehicles. The protesters are calling on the government and relevant authorities to prioritise the rehabilitation and completion of the road to ease transportation challenges and improve living and business conditions in the affected communities.
