“Parliament receives GFA approval to host the 2026 Democracy Cup.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved the organisation of the 2026 Democracy Cup by the Parliament of Ghana, with the fixture set for Friday, August 28, 2026, at 4 p.m. Premier League heavyweights Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko SC have confirmed their participation and will face off in the third edition of the Democracy Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The match is being staged to commemorate 32 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana. In its statement, the GFA congratulated Parliament for strengthening democratic governance and supporting football development in the country. Match officials for the fixture will be announced by the Association in due course.
