President of Groupe Nduom Ghana, Dr Nana Kweku Nduom, has signalled that GN Savings and Loans may resume operations before the close of 2026, following the Court of Appeal’s decision to restore its licence.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, May 25, Dr Nduom explained that the reopening will depend on the completion of regulatory approvals and clearances. Despite these outstanding processes, he expressed optimism about the timeline, noting, “I think it would be this year. Maybe within the quarter. Before the end of the year is a very safe estimate. Before September would be somewhat ambitious.”
His remarks come as Groupe Nduom works to restore full operations of GN Savings and Loans after the Court of Appeal overturned a previous High Court ruling that had upheld the revocation of the institution’s licence during Ghana’s banking sector clean‑up exercise.
The appellate court also directed that all assets be returned to the company’s original owners and that management be handed back to the former leadership, clearing the path for a phased reopening of branches.
GN Savings and Loans was among several financial institutions affected during the 2019 financial sector clean-up, which resulted in widespread licence revocations and restructuring across the banking and savings and loans industry.
