The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export‑Import Bank (Ghana Exim Bank), Sylvester Mensah, has announced that Northshore Apparel will create 3,000 immediate jobs following the commissioning of the first phase of its garment manufacturing facility in Savelugu. Employment is projected to rise to 10,000 direct jobs once the facility reaches full operational capacity.
Speaking at the opening of the Northshore Apparel Hub on Friday, August 28, Mr. Mensah described the project—part of Ghana’s 24‑Hour Economy initiative—as a clear example of how strategic industrial investments can drive sustainable employment and economic transformation.
“Phase One of this facility alone generates 3,000 immediate jobs upon commissioning. When the facility reaches full operational capacity, employment is projected to increase to 10,000 direct jobs. This is what transformative industrial investment looks like,” he stated.
He further noted that the project has invested in skills development, with more than 2,000 prospective operators trained ahead of permanent employment opportunities at the facility.
“We are not just financing machines and buildings; we are investing in people, productive livelihoods, and stronger communities,” he stated. He added that the facility would also contribute to government revenue through taxes and social security contributions. Additionally, the garment production has the potential to generate foreign exchange through exports.
The Northshore Apparel Hub features 50 sewing lines, a 4,000-square-meter cutting and design facility, warehouses for raw materials and finished goods, a 500 kWp solar power system, an on-site clinic and daycare, as well as other supporting infrastructure.
