The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ahafo Region has launched investigations into an alleged sexual misconduct case involving a security officer at Mim Senior High School and a female student.
The incident has stirred concern within the Mim community after reports that the officer allegedly approached the student and solicited sexual activity. The allegations reportedly provoked anger among some youth, who assaulted the officer following the development.
Authorities have since initiated inquiries to establish the facts and determine whether misconduct occurred. Asunafo North Municipal Director of Education, Samuel Jatong Larri, confirmed that the Service is handling the matter and has already interviewed both the security officer and the student as part of the investigation.
According to him, the student was interviewed in the presence of her parents to ensure that her account of the incident was accurately documented and that appropriate safeguards were in place during the process. Mr. Larri explained that the investigations are intended to provide the Ghana Education Service (GES) with a clear understanding of the circumstances surrounding the allegation before any decisions are made. “We interviewed the security guard, as well as the girl in question, in the presence of her mother and father.
The security guard provided his account, and the girl did the same,” he stated. “We are currently compiling the reports, which we will forward to the regional director. In situations like this, the girl is our primary focus. We are dedicated to protecting her, particularly regarding the psychological trauma she may be experiencing.”
