The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo‑Markin, has declared his willingness to cooperate fully with any investigation by the Ghana Police Service or the Office of the Special Prosecutor regarding allegations of extortion made against him by the Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board.
He expressed confidence that those behind the claims would have the courage to formally report the matter to the appropriate authorities. “I expect that if they muster the courage and report that I have extorted from them and I am invited, I shall submit myself to every investigation so that eventually my name is cleared,” he stated.
Suits
Addressing Parliament at the start of its recall session on Monday evening, August 24, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo‑Markin stated that, in light of the allegations against him, he had chosen to uphold the highest moral standards by submitting himself to the processes of law.
He disclosed that he had filed a writ at the Accra High Court against Ghana Gold Board Chief Executive Sammy Gyamfi and the Multimedia Group Limited, as well as a separate suit at the Achimota Circuit Court against Eric Agyei and Peace FM. “I have every confidence that, in the fullness of time, the courts will make the appropriate determination on these matters,” he affirmed.
