The Minority in Parliament has called on the Mahama administration to immediately publish a load-shedding management timetable in response to the ongoing power cuts affecting various parts of the country. According to the Ministry, this timetable will help businesses and electricity consumers plan their activities more effectively.
“Publish a load-shedding timetable to assist businesses,” former Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam said at a press conference in Accra on Monday, March 3 to respond to the State of the National Address delivered by the President on Thursday, February 27. Dr Amin Asam further rejected the assertion by President John Dramani Mahama that he fixed the erratic Power supply (Dumsor).
Dr Mohammed Amin Adam said that President Mahama has a poor record when it comes to addressing the power situation. Unlike President Mahama, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo kept the lights on, Dr Amin Adam added. The Karaga lawmaker said “You did not fix dumsor. Your record on dumsor is abysmal, unlike your predecessor who kept the lights on.”
He further charged the Mahama administration to publish a shedding management timetable due to the unstable power supply. being experienced in the part of the country currently. President John Dramani Mahama had stated that he resolved Ghana’s power crisis, known as ‘dumsor,’ before leaving office in 2017.
“Yes, I promised to fix it, and I did! I wish to place firmly on record that from January 2016 until I handed over the administration of this country on January 7, 2017, there was no power rationing or load management in Ghana.” He made this statement when he delivered his State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Thursday, February 27.
He noted that from January 2016 to January 7, 2017, Ghana did not experience any power rationing or load management. President Mahama also emphasized the significant economic challenges confronting the country, acknowledging that Ghana’s economy had “sunk” to unprecedented lows. Despite these obstacles, Mahama expressed his determination to “fix the economic crisis” and restore Ghana’s path to growth and prosperity.
