Today, January 28, the Appointments Committee of Parliament will vet five nominees for ministerial roles designated by President John Dramani Mahama. The session kicks off at 9:00 am with Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, nominated for Defence Minister, followed by Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, MP, at 11:00 am for the role of Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives.
The afternoon session will begin at 1:00 PM with the vetting of Adjei Kenneth Gilbert, the Minister-designate for Works, Housing, and Water Resources. This will be followed by the vetting of Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, Member of Parliament and the Minister-designate for the Greater Accra Region, at 3:00 PM. The day’s proceedings will conclude with the vetting of Charity Gardiner, the Minister-designate for the Ahafo Region, at 5:00 PM.
The vetting process is a critical step in assessing the nominees’ competence and suitability for their respective roles. It also plays an important role in shaping the leadership of President Mahama’s administration and ensuring effective governance of the country.
