A stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko has expressed deep concerns about the party’s ongoing ‘Thank You’ Tour, calling for immediate action to redirect the initiative to its original purpose. Agyarko, a prominent figure in the party, in a statement on April 28, stated that the Thank You Tour, which was meant to renew hope, reconnect with grassroots supporters, and restore the NPP’s image, has unfortunately taken a troubling turn.
Instead of promoting unity, he noted that the tour is increasingly characterised by discord, blame-shifting, and internal conflict. He believes these issues pose a significant threat to the party’s unity and reputation. “What was intended to restore our party’s image and reconnect us with the grassroots is instead devolving into episodes of discord, blame-shifting, and infighting. This unfortunate turn of events risks causing serious damage to the very fabric of our party,” Agyarko stated.
Agyarko emphasised that the growing internal divisions risk eroding the trust and goodwill the NPP has worked hard to build among the Ghanaian people. As a result, he called on the leadership of the party to act swiftly and decisively to halt the current trajectory of the Thank You Tour.
In his statement, Agyarko urged the NPP leadership to reassess the direction of the tour and avoid what he described as an imminent “collision course.” He advocated for a recalibrated approach, one that would prioritise genuine reconciliation, solidarity, and purposeful engagement. According to Agyarko, this approach is essential to preserve the dignity and unity of the party.
“It is time to apply the brakes and reassess the direction of the Thank You Tour. We must pull back from what increasingly looks like an imminent collision course.” “Let us seize this moment to renew our collective resolve and ensure that the mission of the Thank You Tour is accomplished in a manner worthy of our party’s proud legacy,” he added.
