The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today, Monday, August 31, commence vetting of 47 aspirants seeking various national executive positions ahead of its upcoming national elections. The four‑day exercise, which runs until Thursday, September 3, will see aspirants appear before the party’s vetting committee to determine their eligibility to contest.
The first batch to face the committee includes aspirants for National Chairman, General Secretary, and National Treasurer. On Tuesday, September 1, candidates for the National Vice Chairperson position will undergo vetting, followed by those contesting National Organiser and National Youth Organiser on Wednesday, September 2. The final day, Thursday, September 3, will be dedicated to aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser, and National Women Organiser.
Chairman of the NPP Elections Committee, Frederick Opare Ansah, noted that the party secretariat is currently scrutinising documents submitted by aspirants to ensure compliance with requirements. He explained that candidates must meet several eligibility conditions, including securing endorsements from members across all 16 regions and maintaining good standing with the party.
“Aspirants have expressed their readiness to submit to the vetting committee. The committee’s secretariat is currently reviewing their submitted forms,” he said. He added that the documents will be forwarded to the vetting committee for further evaluation. “We hope the vetting committee will begin its sessions on Monday, August 31.
The committee will be examining three categories of aspirants: those running for the positions of chairman, general secretary, and treasurer,” Frederick Opare Ansah stated. The vetting process is a crucial step in the NPP’s internal electoral procedure as the party prepares to elect new national executives to lead and coordinate its activities across the country.
