Former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has dismissed threats of expulsion from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the party’s leadership of being “fake” and “immature.” Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM on Tuesday, January 13, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng questioned the timing of moves to oust him, while casting doubt on the credibility of General Secretary Justin Kodua.
“I was shown a statement supposedly from the General Secretary, but I have never met him nor spoken to him. I am simply waiting for official communication. Frankly, I don’t care what they decide to do,” he remarked.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng urged the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to make way for the youth, accusing them of manipulation, corruption, and abuse of power. “He is fake. If he were genuine, how could he claim we had a program scheduled from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and then, by nearly 6:00 AM, issue a statement that the NEC had decided to expel someone from the party? They can proceed—I will not even respond,” he remarked.
He further cautioned that the current leadership is eroding the party’s credibility, stressing the need for corrective action. “They can release whatever statements they wish, but the truth is they are destroying the party. Someone must rise to set things right,” he declared.
The NPP has reportedly begun expulsion proceedings following his remarks, which echo earlier comments on Channel One TV’s The Point of View programme with Bernard Avle, where he described the party as “fake” and distanced himself from its current membership.
