Constitution Review Committee opens public engagement platform for memoranda submissions

The Constitution Review Committee established by President Mahama to review and propose necessary amendments to the 1992 constitution has officially opened its channels for public engagement. By this process, the Committee is inviting individuals, civil society organisations, professional bodies and all stakeholders to submit memoranda containing their views, recommendations and proposals for constitutional reforms.

The Committee has also announced that an interactive website has been launched to provide updates, solicit feedback and encourage dialogue on key constitutional issues. Memoranda submissions can be submitted electronically via submissions@constitutionreviewgh.org, online submissions and public engagement can also be made through www.constitutionreviewgh.org.

Similarly, in-person submissions can be made to the Secretariat of the Constitution Review Committee. A statement issued by the Secretary to the committee, Dr Rainer Akumperigya said the Committee is dedicated to ensuring that the voices of all Ghanaians are heard in shaping the future of our democracy. The Committee urged all citizens and institutions to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the constitutional review process.

“To this end, the Committee will further hold public fora and embark on stakeholder engagements across the country, ensuring that diverse perspectives are considered in shaping the nation’s constitutional future. The details of these engagements will be announced in due course,” the Committee stated.
