CLOGSAG declares nationwide strike from March 9

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced plans to embark on a nationwide strike beginning March 9, 2026, over delays in implementing a new salary structure and other conditions of service for civil and local government workers.
In a statement issued after a meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the association accused government officials of repeatedly disregarding reminders from the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC). CLOGSAG noted that commitments to introduce the revised salary structure—originally scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2025—remain unfulfilled

The NEC traced the stalled negotiations back to 2019, highlighting that two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) had been signed but are yet to be implemented. In light of the continued delays, CLOGSAG has declared its intention to resort to industrial action to press for improved conditions of service. The association warned that unless the government honours its commitments, its members will embark on a nationwide strike beginning March 9, 2026.
