Black Queens set for WAFCON 2026 opener against Cape Verde

The Black Queens will launch their campaign for glory on Wednesday, 29 July, when they face Cape Verde in the opening Group C fixture of the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Following weeks of intensive preparation—including a successful pre‑tournament camp and a series of friendlies—Coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s side is determined to make a strong start.

Buoyed by an encouraging build‑up, the Queens enter the competition in high spirits and will be aiming to secure all three points in their first outing. Kick‑off is set for 17:00 GMT at the Moulay Rachid Stadium. Supporters across Ghana will be hoping the team begins its WAFCON journey with a positive result to set the tone for an exciting campaign.
