The campaign team of NPP flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on party communicators to end public disputes over the proxy-voting ban and to uphold the collective decision reached by the January 2026 elections committee. Speaking via Zoom on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday, 24 November, Dr. Ekua Amoakoh, an aide to Bawumia, expressed her unease with the continued public commentary from campaign representatives, noting that all five aspirants had already sat together and endorsed the party’s official stance
“My difficulty is that after all of us debated the options and agreed, we have party people trying to create dissenting impressions,” she said. “The decision has been made. Whether we individually liked it or not, it is now the official position of the party.” She stressed that unity must be prioritised over individual preferences. “This is what deepens tensions. Party interest must remain supreme. Let us stick to the position and move on.”
On the state of the Bawumia campaign, Dr. Amoakoh said momentum remained strong. She noted that Bawumia had already completed engagements with former party executives and polling station officers and was now entering the Ashanti Region — his “homecoming.”
“His work speaks for him,” she said. “His transformative ideas for Ghana — like moving the country toward growth models similar to Korea and Singapore — are resonating with delegates.”
