The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has revealed that its review of the provisional voters’ register uncovered more than 3,500 suspicious entries, sparking concerns over voter eligibility and data accuracy ahead of the presidential primary scheduled for 31 January 2026.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday, 24 November, team member George Ayisi disclosed that the campaign’s anti-rigging unit, led by Jojo Rocky Obeng, had identified names belonging to deceased persons as well as individuals who, according to the team, have never served as executives or former executives within the party.
“This is why it is important that the register is released early,” Ayisi said. “Once we identify names that should not be there, the committee can expunge them legally.” Ayisi also welcomed the party’s decision to ban proxy voting for the 2026 presidential primary, describing proxy balloting as “fraught with challenges and prone to abuse.” He said concerns about disenfranchising ill delegates were overstated.
“Voting is not compulsory,” he argued. “If you genuinely want to vote, you will travel and do so. People fly in from the UK and US to cast their vote.” He added that Kennedy Agyapong’s team remains committed to party unity after the polls. “It has never crossed our minds to walk away if the unlikely happens and our candidate is not selected. The NPP is our home.”
