Former Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, vowed on Tuesday to strengthen Ghana’s economy through local production and reduce reliance on the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Speaking to party delegates in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency, he highlighted the potential of Ghana’s agricultural sector to generate employment, especially for young people.
“For too long, it has been business as usual—an economy of rhetoric, turning to the IMF for bailouts when the resources are right here. Believe in our capacity; we can achieve this. We can build 46 cassava factories across Ghana. Global pharmaceutical companies are in need of starch, and we can establish more factories to provide jobs for our youth,” he declared.
“Vote for Ken Agyapong and I will make it happen,” the former lawmaker further stated. Ken Agyapong’s flagbearer campaign is gaining traction in the Ashanti Region as Ahafo North MP, Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh, becomes the latest lawmaker to endorse his bid. Prempeh urged delegates to back Agyapong in the upcoming party elections.
