The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, has urged party supporters to refrain from publicly criticising the national leadership, stressing that grievances should be resolved through established internal structures. Appearing on Channel One TV’s Face to Face on Tuesday, January 27, Mr. Osei Owusu emphasised that debates over party management must remain in-house, cautioning that open criticism could erode confidence and dampen enthusiasm among members.
“If you ask me anything about the party, I will insist that we do that internally,” he stated, noting that while he speaks candidly within party forums, public discourse should instead highlight efforts to rebuild and strengthen the party. He reassured members that the NPP remains resilient despite its defeat in the 2024 general elections, urging supporters to rally behind the party’s values and principles.
“The party’s leadership and all matters concerning its management have designated forums for discussion. When I am present, I speak openly and directly. What matters most is that we inspire enthusiasm among our supporters. The party is not dead, and it will never die. We must consistently show that we embody its values and principles in everything we do,” he remarked.
The NPP is scheduled to elect its presidential candidate on January 31, with contenders including Kennedy Agyapong, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong. The exercise forms part of broader efforts to reorganise and rebuild the party following its recent electoral setback.
