The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to conduct balloting on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, for aspirants seeking election to various national officer positions of the party. The exercise follows the successful completion of the vetting process, which saw all 47 aspirants cleared to contest for nine categories of national officer positions.
In a statement signed by the NOEC Chairman, Frederick Opare-Ansah, the committee said the specific times for balloting for each position would be communicated directly to the aspirants. The committee has consequently urged all aspirants and their representatives to cooperate fully to facilitate an orderly, transparent, and smooth balloting process.
Positions
A total of four aspirants have been cleared to contest the National Chairman position, while 13 have been cleared for National Vice-Chairperson, four for General Secretary, and four for National Treasurer. Eight aspirants were cleared to contest the National Organiser position, with six cleared for National Youth Organiser. Additionally, two aspirants were cleared for National Women’s Organiser, five for National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser, and one for National Communications Director.
The national executive elections are scheduled to take place on October 3, 2026. The four candidates vying for the National Chairman position are Paul Afoko, John Boadu, Boakye Agyarko and Sammy Crabbe. For the General Secretary position, Eugene Boakye Antwi, Sylvester Tetteh and Charles Dwamena will challenge incumbent Justin Kodua Frimpong, who is seeking a second term.
Diligence
The statement commended the chairperson and members of the National Officers Election Vetting Committee for the diligence, professionalism and commitment they demonstrated in carrying out their mandate. It said the National Officers Election Committee (NOEC) remained committed to ensuring that the remaining stages of the electoral process were conducted in a fair, transparent, orderly and credible manner.
It also urged all aspirants, their supporters and party members to conduct themselves in ways that uphold the unity and integrity of the New Patriotic Party. The statement further assured stakeholders that details regarding the subsequent stages of the electoral process would be communicated in due course.
