NPP Presidential Primary: Elections committee issues strict guidelines for polls

The Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released guidelines for the party’s presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026. The measures are intended to guarantee a smooth, transparent, and peaceful voting process.
In a statement signed by PEC Secretary William Yamoah, delegates were cautioned against publicly displaying their ballots, taking photographs of them, or making gestures to indicate their choice. “Any individual found violating this rule shall be arrested, and their ballot will be nullified or rejected,” the statement emphasised.

The PEC further noted that voting will be strictly on a walk-in basis, with no congregations permitted at the polling centres. Only accredited persons will be allowed within the voting perimeter, and delegates are prohibited from wearing the colours or images of any contestant at the venue. It said voting would take place in an open place, not indoors or in enclosed spaces.

“The Electoral Commission and the Police shall enforce and adhere to restricting delegates from taking their phones and other electronic photographic gadgets to the voting screen,” the statement said. The PEC also urged delegates to maintain decorum and avoid any behaviour that could disrupt the voting process.
