Joseph Osei-Owusu, the Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has confirmed that the party’s 2025 National Annual Delegates Conference will take place as scheduled on Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon. This announcement addresses a petition from some party members who requested a change to the conference date. Despite this appeal, the party’s leadership has decided to proceed with the original plans.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Osei-Owusu noted that a formal petition had been submitted to the party’s National Council requesting a revision of the conference date. However, after careful consideration, the Council opted to uphold the existing schedule. “There is a petition asking for the conference date to be changed,” Mr. Osei-Owusu stated.
Mr Osei-Owusu stated that the party’s National Council had reviewed the petition but resolved to maintain the announced date. “The National Council, after considering it, decided that we should continue. In view of the preparations we have made and the commitments we have undertaken, we should continue with the conference as already announced,” he noted. Despite the dissent over timing, party leadership maintains that continuity and adherence to prior arrangements are vital, especially considering the logistical and financial groundwork already laid.
