The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled its Congress for December 19, 2026, to elect a new National Executive Committee. The announcement was made as part of the party’s constitutional reorganisation plan. Speaking at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Thursday, January 29, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey highlighted key measures to ensure a transparent process, including safeguarding the party’s voter roll. “The main congress to elect all national executives of the NDC, as part of this crucial year of reorganisation, will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2026,” he stated.
Mr. Kwetey further directed that public office holders appointed by the President who wish to contest party positions must resign at least six months before filing their nominations. “Any person seeking to contest for a party position who currently holds an office to which he or she was appointed by the president or government must resign from that office at least six clear months before filing nomination forms,” he added.
