New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary aspirant, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has called for the replacement of the party’s entire national executive leadership, arguing that the party needs fresh leadership, renewed energy and a new strategic direction ahead of the 2028 general elections. He attributed the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections partly to what he described as arrogance of power, neglect of the party’s traditional strongholds and greed among some national executives.
Speaking on AsaasePa’s flagship political programme, “Atumpan,” Boakye Antwi said the party must acknowledge its internal shortcomings and take decisive steps to rebuild its structures and strengthen its connection with the grassroots. He pointed to the NPP’s failure to retain several parliamentary seats in its traditional strongholds, particularly in parts of the Bono and Western regions, as evidence of weaknesses in grassroots engagement and party administration.
According to him, the challenges confronting the party cannot be addressed through minor changes alone. He insisted that the NPP requires new faces, renewed energy and leadership that is more responsive to the concerns and expectations of its members. “We need to boot out the entire national executives and bring in fresh leadership and energy,” he said.
Boakye Antwi further argued that efforts to rebuild the party must begin with restoring the confidence of grassroots supporters, strengthening its organisational structures and ensuring that national executives are accessible and accountable to party members.
He expressed confidence that a revitalised national executive would enable the NPP to reorganise effectively, reconnect with voters and lay the foundation for a stronger comeback in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
