Naa Koryoo unseats Hawa Koomson in Awutu Senya East

The parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, has emerged victorious in the Awutu Senya East Parliamentary race, unseating the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mavis Hawa Koomson, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Naa Koryoo received 50,886 votes, surpassing Hawa Koomson, who collected 46,638 votes. Her campaign centred around tackling important local issues, striking a chord with voters, and helping her clinch the win. Naa Koryoo’s message of development and progress for the people of Awutu Senya East was a major factor in her success at the polls.

“This has been a hard-fought win for me. Kasoa is now free and will see development under my watch,” Naa Koryoo Okunnor remarked after her victory. The announcement of the result was met with jubilation by NDC supporters, who had gathered in large numbers at the forecourt of the Central East Regional Police Command, eagerly awaiting the final declaration. This victory is part of a broader trend of gains made by the NDC in the 2024 general elections, further solidifying their position in Parliament.
