President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed claims of hostility between his administration and the judiciary, emphasizing his government’s commitment to collaborating with the legal community. During a meeting with the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Mahama addressed concerns about perceived tensions and reassured attendees that his administration values partnership with the judiciary to enhance governance.
“The government is open to working with you, especially on our side of the political divide. There is a perception that we have issues with the legal fraternity, but that is not the case,” Mahama stated.
He pointed to the individuals in his administration, including Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, as evidence of the government’s respect for the judiciary. Mahama reiterated that his administration harbours no hostility toward the judiciary or the legal profession, adding, “We’re not people who have any such animosity towards the judiciary and the legal fraternity. So our doors are open.”
