Money can’t buy the conscience of voters – Zanetor

The Member of parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency, Zanetor Rawlings has said that she believes that money cannot buy the conscience of voters because they understand the reality on the ground. Speaking to GHOne TV’s Obed King Gaglo, the MP said, “The people know the reality of what is going on, some people feel that they can use the money to buy the conscience of those who are going to vote but I believe that at this point it is too little, too late.

“You can’t put people in impoverished situations for as long as we’ve been, four years now and think that at the last minute, you can throw some crumbs at people and think that it will make them forget the reality of their lives.” When asked about her assessment of the special voting exercise, Zanetor Rawlings said that she was pleased that it is peaceful and that the process is running smoothly. She advised that voters follow the rules and due processes.

The MP further cautioned the Electoral Commission saying, it should ‘ensure that this process is transparent and fair because ultimately, the voice of the people must be heard and there must not be any doubt about the results when they are announced’ The special voting exercise takes place on the 2nd of December 2024, at various polling stations across the country with the exception of the Eastern and Western Region of Ghana. The general election will however take place on December 7th 2024.
