Former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has appealed to delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support presidential aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the party’s primary slated for Saturday, January 31. She described the former Assin Central Member of Parliament as courageous and trustworthy, noting that he embodies the leadership qualities Ghana requires at this time.
Speaking to delegates during a campaign tour in the Atebubu/Amantin Constituency of the Bono East Region, Naa Torshie Addo emphasised that the NPP’s next flagbearer must demonstrate compassion, firmness, and integrity—qualities she believes Kennedy Agyapong exemplifies
“NPP needs a leader with a kind heart, a man of valour, courageous. Ghana also needs a businessman as President to transform our lives. Mr Agyapong fits those qualities because his philanthropic work and unquestionable reputation are glaring for all to see”.
She added that the NPP must prioritise leadership founded on integrity, hard work and popular appeal if it hopes to regain political power in the 2028 general elections. Majority of the Ghanaian voters now like Kennedy Agyapong,” she added.
Naa Torshie Addo voiced confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would secure victory in the 2028 elections under the leadership of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, urging delegates to back his candidacy in the best interest of both the party and the nation. The NPP is set to conduct its 2028 presidential primary to select a flagbearer for the upcoming general election.
As part of preparations, Mr. Agyapong and four other presidential hopefuls on Thursday, January 22, signed a peace accord pledging unity, adherence to party procedures, and support for whoever emerges as the eventual winner. The other contenders include former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Abetifi MP and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong; Bosomtwe MP and former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
