Ghana secures $13m grant from Japan for Tamale electricity stabilization

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that he has signed an Exchange of Notes with the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Yoshimoto Hiroshi. This agreement secures a generous grant of 1.92 billion Japanese Yen, which is approximately 13 million US dollars, aimed at stabilizing the electricity supply in Tamale City.

In his post, Mr. Ablakwa expressed his satisfaction with securing the grant, emphasizing its potential to significantly improve the electricity infrastructure in Tamale, a major urban center in the Northern Region. The grant will be utilized for enhancing and stabilizing the city’s power supply, which is crucial for meeting the growing demand for reliable electricity in the area. “This project, along with many others under discussion, highlights the strong bond of friendship between Ghana and Japan,” Mr. Ablakwa wrote.
