On Monday, February 17, a fire at the Tantra Hill Court Pub resulted in the destruction of over 50 shops and homes, though thankfully, no casualties were reported. The fire began around 1 p.m. in a wooden structure and quickly escalated after multiple gas cylinders exploded, leaving devastation in its wake. The Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly, but by the time they arrived, much of the area was already engulfed in flames. Fortunately, they were able to bring the fire under control.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been sparked by unattended children playing with fire. One of the victims, Emissa Monica, shared her heartbreaking account of losing everything in the devastating blaze. I have lost everything. All my belongings have been reduced to ashes. I had about GH₵500 in my room, and it’s all gone in the fire,” she lamented.
