Emmaus, O’Reilly SHS, three other schools and an orphanage home benefit from Mr Sam Quarcoo and friends again.

A Ghanaian living in the United States, Mr. Sam Quansah Quarcoo and friends, have donated items worth thousands of US dollars to four public schools in Accra and an orphanage home in the Central Region. This is part of his efforts to support bright but underprivileged students in Ghana.

The items donated included Exercise and notebooks, pens, pencils, mathematical sets, branded school bags, dental care, Dell Chrome Laptops, TV sets, Sandals, rice, cooking oil, sowing machine, and many other types of stationery were also donated to the school children and teaching staff.

The beneficiary schools include Emmaus Methodist School complex at Awoshie last stop, O’Reilly Senior High School, and Bishop John Dally-Dansoman. West Side School Ablekuma, Agape – Way. Roman Catholic Boys Junior High School, Korle-Gonno all in Accra and Ghana Make A Different Orphanage Home in the Central Region.

Some of the teachers at Roman Catholic Boys Junior High School, Korle-Gonno, lamented about how the government of the day has neglected the school. They therefore appealed to the government and other well-wishes like Mr Sam Quarcoo and friends to come to the aid of the school so that the students can have the necessary materials to study with.

They also complained about the lack of interest in education around the area; “the children will rather prefer going fishing or playing football than coming to class to study. Even when they are in class, they wish lessons will be over soon so that they can go out and play”.

Speaking at the presentation ceremonies in Accra, Mr Quarcoo said the donation was his small contribution to aid the schools and the students to stay focused on their studies and also to ease the burden on parents who are finding it difficult to support their wards.

The philanthropist, who has dedicated several years to charitable endeavours in Ghana, expressed a deep sense of fulfilment in contributing to society by addressing the challenges faced by the vulnerable and underprivileged. “I find great satisfaction in giving back to society, particularly to those in need,” he said.

Mr Quarcoo expressed profound gratitude to well-wishers in the US who have been supporting his philanthropic work. Headteachers and students from the beneficiary schools appreciated the donated items but requested Mr Quarcoo not to forget them in future donations, likening their request to Oliver Twists.
