The Communications Minister, Sam George, has granted a one-week extension to the stakeholder committee responsible for evaluating DSTv pricing in Ghana. The committee, which began its work on September 8, 2025, is now expected to submit its final report by September 29, 2025.
In a statement released on Tuesday, September 23, the National Communications Authority (NCA) explained that the extension was given to allow the committee to complete its work and ensure its recommendations adequately address the concerns raised by the Minister regarding DSTv pricing.

The committee’s mandate includes developing a shared understanding of DSTv pricing in Ghana and formulating commercially viable solutions that are acceptable to all parties involved. Additionally, it is working on establishing a roadmap to combat cross-border piracy of DSTv decoders and services from Nigeria into Ghana.
According to the NCA, the committee has made significant progress since its inauguration but required more time to conclude consultations and harmonise the positions of stakeholders.
The review comes amid growing concerns over the affordability of DSTv subscriptions in Ghana and their impact on consumers, as well as persistent challenges with illegal cross-border access to the service.
