Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has voiced firm backing for the Black Stars as they kick off their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama. In a message issued on Tuesday, June 17, he affirmed that Parliament stands solidly behind the national team as they step onto the global stage.
Bagbin emphasized that Ghanaians from all walks of life are united in support of the squad, urging citizens to set aside political, religious, and ethnic differences during the tournament. He described the Black Stars as a symbol of national hope, encouraging the players to approach the match with confidence and determination.
He further called on the team to embody unity, discipline, and belief, stressing that wearing the national colours should inspire pride and a commitment to give their utmost effort in every moment of play.
He also reminded the players that the World Cup is an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s football talent and character to the world. Bagbin expressed optimism that the team’s performance could inspire Ghanaians and strengthen national pride. He ended his message by wishing the Black Stars success and encouraging them to make the country proud in their opening match.
