The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders was attacked in Titao, northern Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Reports from Burkina Faso indicate that the traders were travelling through the town when their vehicle came under fire. The exact circumstances of the incident, including the number of casualties or injuries, have not yet been officially verified.
In response, Ghana’s Embassy in Burkina Faso has begun engaging local authorities to obtain accurate details and is coordinating efforts to visit the site to establish the identities and conditions of the affected citizens. Government sources have described the incident as deeply troubling, particularly given the persistent security challenges in parts of Burkina Faso in recent years.
Officials have assured the public that steps are being taken to establish the facts of the case and to provide support to affected individuals and their families as more information becomes available.
