True peace is built on justice, not absence of conflict – Duncan-Williams

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International (ACI), underscored the essential importance of justice for achieving enduring peace in Ghana. During the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, he pointed out that peace is not just the lack of war and conflict; he insisted that genuine peace is founded on justice.

“Justice is one of the things that secures peace, and where there is no justice, there will never be peace,” he declared. “It is said and believed that the absence of war and conflict is not the sign of peace. The presence of justice is what guarantees peace. So where there’s no justice, there can never be peace.”

He called on President John Dramani Mahama and all Ghanaians to prioritize justice in their actions and decisions, as it is the cornerstone of a harmonious and equitable society. Duncan-Williams elaborated on the concept of justice, highlighting its dual role in rewarding good deeds and addressing wrongdoing.

“The meaning of justice is rewarding people for the good done and punishing people for the evil done,” he explained, emphasizing the need for fairness in governance and society. His remarks resonated as a call to action for leaders and citizens alike to uphold justice as a means to foster national peace and unity.
