A remarkable 20 independent presidential candidates have officially filed their nominations to contest the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections. These candidates argue that Ghana has been steered in the wrong direction by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), which have dominated the country’s political landscape for the past 32 years hence their decision to contest.

Among the independent candidates who have submitted their nominations to the Electoral Commission (EC) are Mr. Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change; Mr. George Twum-Barima-Adu; Mr. Samuel Apea-Danquah; Nana Kwame Bediako; Jacob Osei Yeboah; Richard Sumah; Kofi Koranteng; Desmond Abrefa; Dr. Agnes Ayisha; Dr. Nii Amu Darko; Wilberforce Andrews; Nana Stephens; Rev. Samuel Worlanyo; Amenya TK; Rober Roy Reindof; Paul Perkah; and Seth Ntin Agarko.

Other candidates include Steven Atubigah, Janet Asana Nabla, and Sam Ankrah.

Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Training at the Electoral Commission, noted in an interview that Ghanaians should prepare for a lengthy ballot in the December 7 elections.
