The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has commenced registration for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series. This new program offers a faster route for students who wish to improve their grades by allowing them to resit one or two papers without waiting for the next full examination cycle.
The registration period is open until Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the official WAEC website for detailed instructions and to complete their registration at accredited internet cafés approved by the council.
The First Series of the examination is scheduled to take place from January 24 to February 15, 2025. Candidates will have the opportunity to write various subjects under secure and standardized conditions, ensuring the integrity and credibility of the examination process.
This new program represents a significant shift from the previous system, where students had to wait for the next full private exam cycle to improve their grades. John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, in an interview with Joy News emphasized the significance of this new program, stating that it will provide students with a more efficient and timely opportunity to improve their academic performance.
