Transport fares go up by 19% effective today.

Transport fares have increased by 19% effective today October 29, 2022. This is in line with the Ghana Private Road Transport Union’s (GPRTU) latest adjustments to fares announced earlier in the week. The increment, according to GPRTU is due to the recent hikes in fuel prices coupled with soaring inflation and the current depreciation of the Cedi.

This comes at a time when many Ghanaians are reeling under severe hardship in the system. Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo in the wake of recent public agitations about Ghana’s ailing economy is billed to address the nation on Sunday, October 30 on the economic challenges facing the country and its people. The address is scheduled for 8 pm, and will be telecast on GTV and on major television networks across the country.
