Prioritise job security over allowances – JDM urges trainee nurses

“Former President John Mahama has advised trainee nurses to prioritize securing stable employment over depending on allowances. He emphasized the need for sustainable job opportunities in the healthcare sector. While addressing trainee nurses on Saturday, the NDC flagbearer recognized their financial challenges but stated that long-term employment offers more benefits than temporary allowances.”

He reassured them that his administration would prioritize job creation within the healthcare sector, ensuring that nurses and other healthcare workers have stable and rewarding careers. “We know the problems with trainee nurses, and that’s why, when we were in government, we proposed replacing your allowances with student loans.

“Our goal was to create more employment opportunities for you. What matters most is securing a job after you finish school, not just the allowance,” Mahama stated. He criticised the current government for failing to fulfil its promises, pointing out that many nurses have gone without their allowances for up to 30 months.

Mr Mahama also committed to resuming and completing hospital projects that were abandoned by the current administration, as well as finishing the Agenda 111 hospitals to create more employment opportunities for healthcare professionals. “This election is between Ghana and the NPP,” Mahama concluded, stressing the stakes of the upcoming election.
