Prez Mahama swears in 14 new ministers

On Wednesday, January 30, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama swore in a new group of ministers at the Jubilee House. The ministers sworn in include Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as Minister of Defence, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka as Minister of Interior, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Naa Momo Lartey as Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Kenneth Adjei as Minister of Works, Housing, and Water Resources, and Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum as Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives.

Additionally, eight new regional ministers were sworn in:

Tia Ibrahim, North East Regional Minister

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister

Akamugri Atanga Modestus, Upper East Regional Minister

Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister

James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister

Rita Akosua Awatey, Eastern Regional Minister

John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti Regional Minister

Linda Akweley Ocloo, Greater Accra Regional Minister

All fourteen ministers were approved by Parliament this week. So far, 31 out of the 42 ministerial nominees have been sworn in.

The vetting process is still ongoing, with some nominees yet to appear before the Appointments Committee.
