The Tema Regional Police Command thwarted an attempted robbery at Community 24 in the Adjei-Kojo District of the Ashaiman Division, after a violent exchange of gunfire left three suspected robbers dead. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, December 21, 2025, when the Ashaiman Divisional Police Intelligence Team received a tip-off around 1:30 a.m. about a robbery in progress at a private residence in the area
In a statement released on Monday, December 23, the police confirmed that a team was swiftly deployed to the scene to intervene. On arrival, officers confronted six young men clad in face masks and hoodies, armed with machetes, firearms, and other dangerous weapons. The suspects reportedly opened fire, prompting the officers to respond in self-defence.
In the ensuing shootout, three of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds and later died, while the remaining three—believed to have also been injured—escaped. A subsequent search of the area uncovered several items, including three face masks, three machetes, and an unregistered Royal 125 motorbike suspected to have been used by the assailants.
Meanwhile, the police have placed hospitals and health facilities within the locality on alert and directed them to immediately notify the command through emergency lines if any male persons report with gunshot wounds.
The Tema Regional Police Command commended the officers involved in the operation for their swift response and professionalism and has urged members of the public to continue providing timely information to support efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
