Parliament approves GH¢9.8bn for GETFund in 2026

Parliament has approved a budget of GH¢9.8 billion for the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for 2026. This funding will be used to finance projects and programs across various education sub-sectors. Of the total allocation, GH¢4.2 billion is specifically designated for the Free Senior High School policy, while GH¢1.5 billion is allocated to the tertiary education sector.

Out of the tertiary allocation, GH¢300 million will be used to support continuing students through the GETFund scholarship scheme, as well as to provide new sponsorships for students pursuing programs both locally and abroad. Additionally, the 2026 GETFund formula allocates GH¢230 million for the completion of basic school infrastructure and GH¢310 million for the construction of new facilities.
