The government has officially commenced rolling out the much-awaited cylinder recirculation model (CRM) programme in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions. Under the CRM, residents of Accra, Kumasi and other parts of the country do not have to own a cylinder to use Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for domestic and commercial activities.

Filled LPG cylinders will be kept at exchange points for customers to pay for the content and pick up the filled cylinders after registering with their national identity card – Ghana Card. The NPA and its partners will implement the programme under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (1 September), the head of communication at the NPA Mohammed Kudus said: “The exercise will start today in Accra and Kumasi and will later be rolled out in other regions.” “We are expecting the bottling plants to publish their exchange point so the public will know where they can refill,” he added.
