The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported 37 new cases of Mpox, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 409 as of August 14, 2025. Currently, two patients are hospitalised. This update follows the report released on August 11, which recorded 26 new cases, raising the total at that time to 372. Earlier, on August 7, the GHS confirmed 346 infections. The national death toll remains at one.
Health officials have stated that Mpox primarily spreads through close contact with an infected person. Symptoms of the disease include fever, skin rashes, and swollen lymph nodes. The GHS advises the public to avoid close contact with individuals displaying symptoms, wash hands frequently with soap and water, refrain from touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, and wear a mask when caring for someone who is ill.
The GHS is actively monitoring the outbreak, tracing contacts, and enhancing public education efforts with support from regional health directorates.
