Mahama to deliver 2026 State of the Nation Address today

President John Dramani Mahama will today, Friday, February 27, 2026, deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament. The address is expected to present a comprehensive review of Ghana’s current state, showcasing achievements across major sectors while outlining government priorities and policy directions for the year ahead. Key focus areas include the economy, health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, along with updates on Ghana’s international relations and commitments.

This presentation also fulfils the constitutional requirement under Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates the President to report to Parliament at the start of each session on the state of the nation. In anticipation of the address, the Minority has called on the President to provide practical solutions to pressing challenges confronting Ghanaian youth, particularly unemployment and economic hardships.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has directed that Members of Parliament be seated by 8:30 a.m., with no late entries permitted. The SONA is expected to set the tone for legislative and policy actions for 2026, providing insight into the government’s roadmap for national development.
