Major Shake-Up: BOST, CBG, GNPC and six other boards dissolved by President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved the boards of nine state institutions effective immediately, according to a statement from the Presidency. The decision, announced on Wednesday, September 2, impacts institutions across key sectors of the Ghanaian economy, including petroleum, mining, housing, sports, banking, and infrastructure. The affected institutions are:

  1. Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited
  2. Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST)
  3. Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO)
  4. Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG)
  5. Ghana Post Company Limited
  6. Road Maintenance Trust Fund
  7. TDC Ghana Limited
  8. Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)
  9. National Sports Authority (NSA)

The Presidency has directed the relevant sector ministers to take all necessary steps to implement the board dissolutions. The ministers are expected to act in accordance with applicable laws and the governing instruments of the respective institutions. The Presidency clarified that the dissolution does not constitute the permanent removal of governance structures for the affected institutions. The boards will be reconstituted in due course, which will allow for the appointment of new members to oversee these institutions.
